Recently, a video of a burning car running uncontrollably on the road in Jaipur went viral. The car caught fire as it was heading toward Sudarshanpura Bridge on Ajmer Road yet continued to race while engulfed in flames for quite a distance.

The incident occurred on the elevated highway near Sodala vegetable market. The reason why the car did not stop after catching fire has now come to light. According to reports, the car couldn’t stop because the handbrake failed after the fire broke out.

PTI cited fire officials who provided this information. The burning car also collided with a motorcyclist.

After the car caught fire, the driver engaged the handbrake and jumped out to save his life. However, it’s reported that the handbrake did not work properly, which caused the burning car to keep moving forward. Even as it turned into a fireball, the car continued to race down the road until it finally stopped after hitting a roadside divider.

Driver Jitendra Jangid mentioned that he had stopped the car on the elevated road at Sodala after noticing smoke coming from the bonnet. He said that he immediately jumped out of the car, but due to the faulty handbrake, the car continued down the road. In the viral video, the fully engulfed car is seen speeding down the flyover, even hitting passing motorcyclists along the way.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene struggled to bring the fire under control. After the accident, a long traffic jam formed on the road. It is believed that a short circuit caused the fire in the car. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, but the chaos from the fire caused panic among bystanders and drivers.
